How much does it cost?
£80 1hour face to face. £65 for Telephone consultation

Is the Therapy available by phone if I am too far from a clinic?
Yes. A telephone session lasts an hour. For telephone sessions to be working as effectively as face to face it is important the client is undisturbed and no distractions occur.

What does treatment involve?
One to one consultations lasting one hour. Sessions are arranged with a variable interval between them. The average interval is ideally weekly for first 2-3 sessions then every 2 weeks or so depending on progress.  The benefits of the therapy happen between sessions.

Is Mickel Therapy a form of psychotherapy?
No . Mickel Therapy is a body-mind healing process. Unlike psychotherapy, we do not investigate thoughts in order to treat the mind. In contrast to most forms of physical therapy we do not try to remove symptoms through massage, diet or drugs that merely shoot the messenger. Mickel Therapy suggests that primary emotional energy is created independently of thinking or cognitions. These e-motions immediately become strong influences on cellular function and therefore physical health.

How are these conditions produced?
Mickel Therapy works on the assumption that the conditions are the result of a dysfunction of the hypothalamus gland.

How can I be sure it will work?
You can be confident in Mickel Therapy, 1000 cases and rising report now being well following Mickel Therapy.  Testimonials are available and communication with sufferers who have been returned to full health can be arranged at your request.

I get depression, IBS, can this treatment help me?
Although Mickel Therapy has been designed specifically to treat the conditions of CFS/ME and Fibromyalgia, it is also very successful in treating other conditions from a body-mind perspective. These include: Depression, Anxiety, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Please see website content for further information

Can I have a family member join me in the sessions?
This has been shown to impede the treatment process and therefore it is necessary for the sessions to only involve the client and practitioner. However we encourage parent involvement and attendance in cases of young people.

What happens in the first initial consultation session?
The first session involves information gathering by practitioner and if necessary the client. You will then be shown by the therapist how the condition of 'Hypothalamitis' creates the symptoms. However the downloadable video on this makes it unnecessary if clients have watched it. Click HERE for the Youtube clip of Dr David Mickel. This then allows the rest of the treatment to move towards interpreting and translating the message behind the symptoms. In some cases a difference can be experienced after the first session but normally this may take 2 or more sessions. Each case progresses at its own rate - but the final goal is the same, namely, full recovery.

What kinds of qualifications does your staff hold?
Mickel Therapy practitioners only require one qualification and that is to have successfully completed the Practitioner training and be in full supervision under Dr Mickel and Kyle Davies.

Because Mickel Therapy is innovative and unlike any treatment in existence that we aware of, previous experience of other treatments is unnecessary.

Have you any published research?
The Mickel Health Initiatives Ltd Team is currently in the process of setting up a randomised control trial of the therapy that will be published when complete. Dr Mickel has a longitudinal study of the outcome of 100 cases that he has treated himself - this showed a 92% success rate and an 8% drop out. However as this is based on client testimony alone it is not scientifically backed up by research as yet. Prior to the RCT an independent Observational Study of Outcome is planned for 2007/8.

Is there a spiritual element to therapy?
Some of the team share an interest in metaphysics, however, this does not form part of the treatment process.  If clients do entertain metaphysical or spiritual beliefs and want to explore them as part of treatment this will need to be discussed with the individual Mickel Therapy practitioner.

Does Mickel Therapy belong to a school of thought?
Mickel Therapy draws on elements of quantum theory, mind-body or vibrational medicine, and some of the work of Ernest Rossi and the theory behind State Dependant Memory - which is the existence of cellular chemical memory or 'intelligence'.  However, the thoery that underpins the treatment process does reflect a paradigm shift and is therefore not comparable to any other treatment that we know of.

Is there a 'test' for ME which could establish whether I have it or not?
Following the CMO Working Group Report 2002 the diagnosis is one of exclusion. This means that you have to have had a period of symptoms and have had some simple tests done by your doctor to exclude other causes. There is no single test as such available.

Why have the Medical profession not been informed about your ability to treat ME?
They have at the highest level. Unfortunately they refuse to accept our claims or those of our treated clients unless we have a Randomised Control Trial published. The Mickel Health Initiatives Team are working closely with a number of academics and other professionals to ensure rigorous independent research is conducted in order that Mickel Therapy can be embraced within mainstream healthcare provision.

Does the severity or length of illness affect your ability to treat successfully?
The length of illness does not affect the outcome. That is to say that we have treated people who have had the condition for as long as 45 years and they have had the same rate of recovery as someone who has suffered for a short period of time. People who are unable to attend sessions are not catered for to Mickel Therapy's satisfaction and The Mickel Health Initiatives team is working towards attaiing funding for a residential unit for such cases.

Will I have to make dramatic life changes
This is rarely, if ever necessary, as all Mickel Therapy practitioners are trained to help avoid this. The only dramatic change should be readjusting to not having symptoms.

Can the sessions take place remotely using video conferencing equipment?
Some practitioners have recived specific training to  provide e-mail and telephone treatment for clients that has proven very effective. This can on occasion include webcam link. Please contact for details.
